The CDC Foundation is seeking a Data Engineer to play a crucial role in advancing their mission by designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure for public health. This position is aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping the nation's public health agencies improve their information systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines on the Snowflake platform
- Designing efficient, scalable data architectures and implementing Snowflake best practices
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse data sources
- Monitoring and optimizing data pipelines for performance and cost
- Implementing security measures to protect sensitive information
- Providing technical guidance and creating documentation for data processes
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, Scala, or SQL
- Experience with big data technologies and frameworks
- High level of proficiency in Snowflake and data engineering best practices
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a virtual environment
This is a remote, full-time position based in the United States, with a salary range of $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits. The position is grant-funded with an end date of June 30, 2025. The Data Engineer will be hired by the CDC Foundation and assigned to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
