Description For Data Engineer

The CDC Foundation is seeking a Data Engineer to play a crucial role in advancing their mission by designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure for public health organizations. This position is aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping the nation's public health agencies improve their information systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and architectures
  • Implementing efficient strategies for data collection, storage, and analysis
  • Managing relational and non-relational databases
  • Applying data modeling techniques
  • Utilizing analytics software for data interpretation and visualization
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Leading requirements gathering sessions
  • Developing test cases and conducting end-user testing

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong skills in data pipeline development, database management, and data modeling
  • Proficiency with analytics and visualization tools
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

This remote position offers a competitive salary range of $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits. It is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025. The role involves working within the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) and collaborating with various teams to implement public health data systems projects.
