Description For Data Engineer

The CDC Foundation is seeking a Data Engineer for a remote, grant-funded position ending June 30, 2025. This role is crucial in advancing the organization's mission by designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure for public health. The position is aligned with the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI) and will work within the South Carolina Department of Public Health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing data pipelines for efficient data flow
  • Assessing existing data pipelines and developing future state solutions
  • Collecting, validating, and transforming data from various sources
  • Optimizing data infrastructure for performance and scalability
  • Implementing security measures for sensitive information
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet data needs
  • Designing and managing data storage systems
  • Providing technical guidance and staying updated on industry trends

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SAS, and SAS Viya
  • Knowledge of medical coding concepts and RedCap
  • Experience with big data technologies and cloud computing platforms
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and systems
  • Expertise in data modeling and ETL processes

The salary range is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits. The position offers flexible working hours with a preference for 8am-5pm Eastern time zone.   • Familiarity with RedCap data collection and extraction
  • Experience with big data technologies and frameworks
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and systems
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration techniques
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
