Description For Environmental Test Engineer II

CesiumAstro, a pioneering company in satellite and aerospace communication systems, is seeking an Environmental Test Engineer II to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for designing and executing environmental tests for space and airborne products, including thermal cycling, vacuum, vibration, shock, and EMI/EMC testing.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge hardware and software for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems in a startup environment. You'll be part of a highly technical engineering team, working on everything from component-level single-board computers to payload-level integrated communication systems.

As an Environmental Test Engineer II, you'll be responsible for authoring test plans, interpreting environmental test standards, designing test fixtures, and maintaining test equipment. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with electronics and mechanical engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, with 2+ years of relevant experience. Responsibilities For Environmental Test Engineer II

  • Authoring environmental test plans and procedures for development, qualification, and acceptance test campaigns
  • Interpreting environmental test standards and designing test plans
  • Designing test fixtures such as mounting brackets and signal feedthroughs
  • Analyzing test fixtures for performance
  • Selecting and maintaining environmental test equipment
  • Executing environmental test plans
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and approving environmental test data and results
  • Contributing to root cause analysis and anomaly investigations
  • Authoring customer-facing test reports
  • Working with electronics and mechanical engineers to understand products and design tests

Requirements For Environmental Test Engineer II

Python
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 2 years of relevant industry or research experience
  • Working knowledge of environmental test for the aerospace industry
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee or refugee
