Principal Communication Systems Engineer II

At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Principal Communication Systems Engineer II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, experience in space technology, and the ability to be the technical point of contact for our communication programs.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the development of space architecture concepts, sub-system design, and payload design
• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements
• Lead trade studies to optimize system architecture
• Develop and direct technical concept development in support of proposals
• Conduct analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, and other quality factors
• Participate in developing system engineering processes

Requirements:

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering
• 11+ years of experience in space communications
• Strong background in communication theory and RF concepts
• Experience with FPGA & modern vector processing engines
• Knowledge of satellite-communications standards
• Experience with scripting and programming languages (Python & C++)
• Experience with optical communications systems
• Ability to hold a security clearance
