CesiumAstro, a pioneering company in out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, and aerospace platforms, is seeking a Principal RF Test Engineer I to join their dynamic team in Austin, TX. This role is perfect for those passionate about developing critical test systems for leading-edge satellite and spacecraft communication systems.

As a Principal RF Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing engineering test plans and procedures. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in both hardware and software, with expertise in RF measurements, test equipment, and automation. You'll work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to address company-wide hardware test needs, with a preference for experience in phased array testing.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with design and test engineering teams, developing test requirements, implementing test plans, and presenting results to stakeholders. You'll also manage lab equipment and guide purchase decisions. As a principal-level engineer, you'll architect RF test systems, draw insights from test results, and participate in "design for test" planning from early stages of RF product development.

The role requires excellent communication skills for presenting to customers and executives, as well as participating in proposal writing. With a minimum of 9 years of experience and a BS or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, you'll be at the forefront of space technology development.

Responsibilities For Principal RF Test Engineer I

  • Design, analysis, and implementation of engineering test plans and procedures
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to address company-wide hardware test needs
  • Develop test requirements, map requirements to reusable test architectures and procedures
  • Implement test plans and procedures
  • Log and present results to key stakeholders

Requirements For Principal RF Test Engineer I

Python
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or institution
  • Minimum of 9 years of industry or university research experience in design, analysis, and implementation of RF test systems
  • High proficiency with RF measurements (Linearity, NSD, EVM, etc.)
  • Test architecture design and development including scripting, test executives, hardware, and measurement abstraction layers
  • Proficient in performing conducted RF measurements including S-parameters, AM/PM, compression, noise figure, harmonics/spurious emission, phase noise, switching speed, bit error rate, adjacent channel power, and group delay
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, source measurement units, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and vector signal analyzers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
