Sr. Systems Engineer

CGS is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting a wide-ranging technical support initiative for a large Federal agency. The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting, monitoring, and managing all installed systems, applications, and infrastructure. They will work closely with software engineers and architects to establish, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools. The role involves implementing and documenting complex system changes, supporting process automation, evaluating existing systems, and providing technical direction.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the development of customized software and hardware requirements
• Planning and implementing systems automation for better efficiency
• Designing security systems to maintain data safety
• Designing systems for data services projects as part of an Agile/Scrum team
• Applying established system engineering and management principles

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of system engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Shell scripting
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile Development processes
• Experience with cloud services, especially AWS
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the organization
