Sr. Systems Engineer

CGS is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting a wide-ranging technical support initiative for a large Federal agency. The role involves supporting, monitoring, and managing all installed systems, applications, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will work closely with software engineers and architects to establish, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools. They will also implement and document complex system changes, support continuous process automation, and design systems for data services projects as part of an Agile/Scrum team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Evaluating existing systems and providing technical direction
• Overseeing the development of customized software and hardware requirements
• Implementing systems automation for better efficiency
• Designing security systems to maintain data safety
• Timely reporting and rapid response to any glitches

The ideal candidate should have:

• BS degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, or related IT field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of system engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Shell scripting, and various command line interfaces
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile Development processes
• Experience with ETL processes, cloud services (especially AWS), and virtualization
