Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Education

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for their Education Initiative. This role is part of the AI Explore pod, tasked with exploring new ideas and technologies to apply AI to education. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in AI/ML with a willingness to engage in conversations about future developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use fine-tuning and RAG to focus LLMs on the education space
• Investigate and propose new systems combining deep learning with reasoning engines and knowledge-based systems
• Develop and deploy multi-modal AI systems for teachers and students
• Collaborate with expert partners to explore new applications for AI technology

Requirements:

• Masters or PhD in computer science (focus on machine learning & data analytics) or equivalent industry experience
• 2-3 years of experience developing and applying machine learning methods
• Demonstrated experience building and training AI/ML models and developing deep learning methods
• Technical fluency in AI, machine learning, operations research, data integration, or computer science
• Ability to work in a highly interactive and cross-functional collaborative environment
