Chariot is revolutionizing the charitable giving landscape by building modern, end-to-end payment infrastructure that connects donors with nonprofits. With $500B donated to charity annually in the US, Chariot is modernizing outdated technology infrastructure to make giving more efficient and accessible.
As a Backend Engineer at Chariot, you'll play a crucial role in scaling their platform that's already integrated with 85% of the $250B DAF market and serves 50,000+ nonprofits. You'll work directly with the CEO and founding engineers to evolve their banking and DAF products while helping build out the engineering team.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to make meaningful impact - helping increase donations to thousands of nonprofits working on critical issues like homelessness, healthcare, education and the environment. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team backed by top investors including YC, Maveron, and Spark Capital.
Key responsibilities include architecting and building scalable backend systems and APIs, defining engineering standards, improving monitoring capabilities, and managing projects in an Agile environment. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of software development experience, strong skills in Go, Node, Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with databases and API development.
Beyond competitive compensation ($150-200K), Chariot offers comprehensive benefits including fully covered healthcare, generous PTO, parental leave, and regular team events. They maintain an in-person culture at their NYC office while offering WFH flexibility. If you're passionate about using technology to transform charitable giving while working with a talented, mission-driven team, this could be an excellent opportunity.
