Automation Engineer Intern

Charm Industrial is seeking an Automation Engineer Intern for a 10-12 week on-site position in Fort Lupton, CO. This role combines hands-on hardware experience with software development using industrial automation languages. You'll be at the forefront of building automation solutions that enhance our carbon underground storage capabilities through improved HMIs and SCADA systems.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with novel electromechanical equipment and contribute to environmental sustainability. You'll be responsible for developing automation software solutions that reduce operator burden and accelerate scaling capabilities. Your work will involve designing intuitive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), running test benches for next-generation pyrolyzers, and analyzing data to validate design effectiveness.

Working in a cross-functional team environment, you'll need strong collaborative skills and a growth-oriented mindset. The role requires programming expertise in languages like Python, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, or Ladder Logic, along with understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus and OPC-UA.
