Description For Hardware Engineer Co-Op (Switching) - Meraki

At Cisco Meraki, we're looking for a Hardware Engineer Co-Op (Switching) to join our team from May to October 2025. As part of the fastest growing cloud-managed networking team in the world, you'll be at the forefront of changing enterprise networking and making cloud-managed IT a reality.

Our Hardware Engineers lead all aspects of product creation, from architecture and initial sketches through detailed design and final production. You'll work within high-impact teams, collaborating on every part of the process that brings Meraki Magic to market.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching and developing hardware and System on Chip (SoC's) such as CPUs, custom or merchant ASICs/NPUs
  • Working with silicon vendors to perform SoC analysis
  • Authoring detailed silicon evaluation plans to benchmark performance metrics
  • Participating in silicon evaluation with multi-functional collaborator teams
  • Researching and assisting with next generation SoC requirements

You'll be part of inspiring projects like "Next Generation Products," where you'll track various aspects of SOCs, collect performance metrics and power consumption, and analyze them to lead to new research and design insights.

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Basic knowledge of networking hardware technologies
  • Familiarity with CPUs, NPUs, PHYs, and Switching ASIC architectures
  • Excellent communication & social skills
  • Ability to coordinate & drive programs across multi-functional teams
  • Currently studying towards a BSc, MSc or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Appetite for end-to-end product development

  • Familiarity with CPUs, NPUs, PHYs, Switching ASIC architectures
  • Excellent communication & social skills
  • Ability to coordinate & drive programs across multi-functional teams
  • Studying towards a BSc, MSc or an equivalent certification in Electrical Engineering or a related subject area
  • Appetite for end-to-end product development, with exposure to projects of reasonable complexity
