Description For Associate Application Engineer (Co-Op)

Acacia, now part of Cisco, is seeking an Associate Application Engineer (Co-Op) to join their team in Maynard, Massachusetts. This role offers an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of optical interconnect products and network scalability.

As an Associate Application Engineer, you will work on cutting-edge technologies that accelerate network performance, capacity, and cost-effectiveness. You'll be part of a cross-functional team of experts solving challenges in next-generation optical interconnects, contributing to award-winning products that empower cloud and service providers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working in optical labs to recreate and evaluate customer issues
  • Developing creative solutions for product limitations
  • Collaborating with customers to integrate Acacia's products into their systems
  • Contributing to the development of current and future networks
  • Writing Python scripts for system features
  • Addressing various technical disciplines such as electrical, optical, embedded software, mechanical, and thermal engineering

This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in electronic or electrical engineering with a strong foundation in signals and systems, electronic design, and programming. Knowledge of Python and experience with electronic/optical system design are essential.

Responsibilities For Associate Application Engineer (Co-Op)

  • Recreate real-world application environments in our optical lab to evaluate and verify customer issues
  • Develop creative workaround solutions to product limitations or bugs
  • Work with customers to help integrate Acacia's products into their systems and networks
  • Work with the world's leading systems and service providers to help build the networks of today and help define the networks of the future
  • Collaborate with team members to develop Python scripts that enable and manage system features
  • Address a broad range of technical disciplines, including electrical, optical, embedded SW, mechanical, and thermal

Requirements For Associate Application Engineer (Co-Op)

Python
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in electronic or electrical engineering or related field
  • Completed courses in Signals and Systems, Electronic Design and a Basic Programming Course
  • Knowledge of Python programming
  • Basic Analog Electrical engineering skills
  • Experience with electronic and/or optical system design
