Data Scientist (Intern) United States

Cisco is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on massive structured, unstructured, transactional, and real-time data sets from various sources. You'll analyze customer usage patterns and provide actionable, intuitive, impactful insights using metrics, algorithms, and statistics.

As a Data Scientist Intern, you'll:

• Acquire, clean, and structure data from various sources and maintain databases/data systems
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Develop, prototype, and test predictive algorithms
• Filter and "clean" data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators
• Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports

Qualifications:

• Recently completed or actively enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
• Experience with data science tools and techniques, including data manipulation (SQL, Hadoop, etc.)
• Experience with programming (R, Python, XML, JavaScript, or ETL) frameworks
• Knowledge of reporting packages (Business Objects etc.)
• Use of statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
• Technical knowledge regarding data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques
• Proficient in queries, report writing, and presenting findings

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Oracle databases
• Familiarity with advanced machine learning techniques, neural networks, and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Expertise in analyzing time-series data and forecasting
• Familiarity with software development methodologies
• Strong presentation and storytelling skills
