Description For Hardware Engineer II (Co-op)

Cisco is seeking a Hardware Engineer II (Co-op) to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to impact product development from circuit design to large system design, and see your contribution through to high volume manufacturing. You'll work with open-minded, driven, diverse, and creative people who design the hardware that makes the internet work.

Who You'll Work With: You'll be part of a team that designs hardware for various product categories including cloud, social, mobile/wireless, video, VoIP, big data, collaboration, web, Internet of Things, routing, switching, IPv6, data center, HPC, Telepresence, and more. Your work will impact billions globally.

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to product development across various levels, from circuit design to large system design
  • Work on creative hardware engineering projects in areas such as:
    • ASIC Design and Verification
    • System/Board Design
    • Circuit Board Layout
    • Hardware Automation
    • Validation and Test
    • Signal Integrity
    • Power Design

Who You Are:

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work toward long-term goals
  • Experienced in establishing and sustaining positive relationships with an extended team
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written)
  • Collaborative across business groups

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time graduate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient understanding of hardware engineering principles and experience with hardware design tools and software (e.g., CAD tools, simulation software)
  • Familiarity with hardware testing and debugging techniques
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and technical problem-solving skills
  • Able to commit to a 6-month co-op program
