Description For Senior Professional Engineer

The City of Fort Worth, serving nearly 1 million residents, is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to join their Development Services Department in the Infrastructure Plan Review Center (IPRC) Section. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth in municipal engineering, with a competitive annual compensation range of $100,000 - $113,561 plus a $5,400 sign-on bonus.

The position involves managing developer-funded infrastructure improvements for residential, commercial, and industrial development projects. As a Project Manager, you'll be responsible for reviewing construction plans and ensuring compliance with city standards. The role requires expertise in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure design and development review.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of professional experience as a registered Professional Engineer, with two years specifically in capital improvement or infrastructure design review. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required, along with PE registration in Texas (or the ability to obtain it within 6 months).

Key responsibilities include supervising project activities, coordinating with developers and stakeholders, implementing policies and procedures, and serving as a point of contact for both internal and external parties. The role offers exposure to various aspects of municipal engineering and development, making it an excellent opportunity for professional growth.

Responsibilities For Senior Professional Engineer

  • Supervise and coordinate project activities for public infrastructure design and construction
  • Provide direction to developers' engineers for design compliance
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate development review quality through performance measures
  • Serve as point-of-contact for internal/external staff and customers
  • Coordinate with stakeholders in City departments and external agencies
  • Facilitate communication and permit application processing
  • Fill in for Engineering Manager responsibilities as needed

Requirements For Senior Professional Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Three years of professional civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Two years experience related to capital improvement and/or infrastructure design/review
