Description For Sr. Professional Engineer

The City of Fort Worth, serving nearly 1 million residents, is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to join their Transportation and Public Works department. This role offers an attractive salary range of $93,574 - $121,646 annually, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits package.

The position leads the development and implementation of traffic signal operations, including signal timing, design, and Traffic Management Center Operations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, three years of professional experience, and PE registration in Texas (or ability to obtain it within 6 months).

Key responsibilities include managing traffic signal operations, supervising staff, working with stakeholders, managing budgets and projects, and leading Smart City initiatives. The role requires expertise in traffic engineering software and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities For Sr. Professional Engineer

  • Manage traffic signal operations and signal-related projects
  • Supervise staff for citywide signal timing program
  • Work with stakeholders to resolve traffic engineering issues
  • Manage budget, design, grant applications, and ITS device projects
  • Lead Smart City initiative related to traffic operations
  • Support engineering manager with additional duties

Requirements For Sr. Professional Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Three years of professional civil engineering experience as registered professional engineer
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Knowledge of TMUTCD, HCM 2010, AASHTO Manual
  • Experience with Traffic Engineering software (Synchro, SIM Traffic, MAX View, Kinetics)
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
