Description For Water Modeling Engineer

The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking a Water Modeling Engineer to join their W/WW Planning and Horizontal Asset Management section. This role combines engineering expertise with water system modeling to support the growing needs of nearly 1,000,000 residents. The position offers a competitive salary range of $93,574 - $121,646 annually, plus an attractive $8,100 sign-on bonus.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing water and sewer systems using specialized modeling software (InfoWater). This position involves both technical expertise and leadership responsibilities, as you'll be supervising an engineering technician while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure efficient water and wastewater solutions.

Key responsibilities include conducting developer studies, performing capacity analyses, and contributing to master plan updates. The role requires a Professional Engineer registration and offers excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, and a pension plan.

Responsibilities For Water Modeling Engineer

  • Reviewing developer studies for adequate capacity in water and sewer system
  • Water and sewer modeling in support of development and wholesale customer growth
  • Wholesale water and sewer capacity analysis
  • Assist in updating, maintaining, and improving horizontal asset Risk Based Assessment model
  • Analyzing specific regions to determine ultimate needs and layout of water/sewer lines
  • Project management for planning related projects
  • General trouble-shooting and analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Provide guidance for development to external stakeholders
  • Supervise direct reports including one engineering technician

Requirements For Water Modeling Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Three years of professional engineering experience as a registered professional engineer
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Experience with water or sewer models (InfoWater, WaterGEMS, or EPANET preferred)
