Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Java)

CLEAR is a leader in digital and biometric identification, reducing friction for members wherever an ID check is needed. We're seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help build the next generation of products that go beyond ID and enable members to leverage networked digital identity. You'll participate in designing, implementing, testing, and deploying applications to enhance our platform, which interconnects various attributes and qualifications while prioritizing member privacy and security.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

• Advance capabilities across industries and domains, gaining hands-on experience with privacy, security, data modeling, and architecture
• Develop and deliver code across the full stack, driving engineering excellence through best practices in testing, documentation, and observability
• Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to uncover requirements, innovate, and solve complex problems
• Take ownership of architectural decision-making and strive for continuous improvement in technology and processes

Requirements:

• 9+ years of software development experience in Java
• Experience with cloud-based application development, including:
  • Cloud services providers like AWS
  • Containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Collaboration, integration, and deployment tools like Github, Argo, and Jenkins
• Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience collaborating with and mentoring less experienced team members
• Comfort with ambiguity and curiosity about technology
• Autonomous and able to determine what's important

The base salary range for this role is $215,000 - $250,000, depending on skills and experience. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, commission, and Restricted Stock Units.
