Senior Software Engineer, Observability

CLEAR, a leader in digital and biometric identification, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Observability to establish their SRE function. This role will be crucial in accelerating the building and scaling of innovative systems supporting CLEAR's growing identity platform.

Key responsibilities include:

• Driving SLOs to identify and fix gaps in observability and overall systems
• Leading reliability-focused practices such as load testing, capacity planning, game days, chaos testing, and incident post-mortems
• Collaborating with Software Engineering and Product teams on design, architecture, and implementation of new systems and services
• Embedding within Engineering and Product pillars to implement observability across key flows
• Facilitating load testing cases to understand service and system limits
• Contributing to architecture and design, ensuring highly reliable and scalable concepts
• Working with various teams to meet Product Engineering requirements
• Building long-term capacity plans focusing on reliability and cost-efficiency

The ideal candidate should:

• Be a software engineer with embedded SRE experience
• Have experience writing production-grade software in modern languages like Java or Python
• Possess strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts, microservices architecture, and distributed tracing
• Have experience with modern observability systems like Datadog
• Be proficient in performance debugging tools and patterns
• Have a strong product and user-centric mindset
• Desire to continuously improve systems and environments
