Cloudflare is seeking a Data Center Design Engineer to design pending and future infrastructure deployments for generational improvement in cost, quality, and speed of deployment. The role is part of the global Infrastructure (INF) team, which grows and manages Cloudflare's global data center/PoP footprint.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating data center capacity requirements into actionable white space design and rack plans
- Managing implementation of cage projects with data center providers
- Designing low voltage structured cabling, fiber, cross-connect & conveyance infrastructure
- Working with supply chain team on rack integration plans and location deployment qualification
- Leading projects to design and implement data center expansions or new data centers
- Providing technical support in negotiations with external data center partners
- Reviewing one-line diagrams and cooling equations for data centers
- Implementing and maintaining power consumption tracking tools
The ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 5+ years in data center mechanical and electrical design and operations
- Experience in HVAC, chilled water systems, and various cooling technologies
- Understanding of electrical theory and data center infrastructure design concepts
- Familiarity with industry standards for resilient data center design
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work on time-sensitive projects
