Description For Design Engineer, Product

Coast is revolutionizing technical sales by making APIs visual and interactive. As a Design Engineer, you'll join a YC-backed startup trusted by industry leaders like Twilio, Plaid, FIS, and Zurich Insurance. You'll lead design initiatives and contribute to the frontend experience, working directly with the founders in our NYC office.

The role combines technical expertise with design thinking, requiring deep knowledge of React, modern web technologies, and UI/UX principles. You'll be instrumental in building and maintaining design systems both for internal use and customer offerings. The position offers equity (0.05% - 0.40%) alongside a competitive salary.

We're looking for someone who has end-to-end design experience, excellence in modern design tools, and a strong understanding of API-first companies. The ideal candidate will be low-ego, honest, and kind, with strong design thinking skills and expertise in graphic design fundamentals.

Working at Coast means joining a lean, fast-moving team where you'll have significant impact on the product's direction. You'll collaborate directly with founders, architect complex frontend systems, and help shape the future of technical sales demonstrations. The company is backed by notable investors including Y Combinator, Arash Ferdowsi, Calvin French-Owen, and Amjad Masad.

The interview process is comprehensive, including technical assessment, product deep-dive, and in-person meetings, ensuring we find the right fit for our collaborative culture. If you're passionate about creating exceptional user experiences and want to be part of a transformative API visualization platform, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
