Collaborative Robotics is an innovative startup revolutionizing human-robot interaction through cutting-edge AI and machine learning. We're seeking an AI Research Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of autonomous robots. This role combines practical engineering with state-of-the-art AI research, focusing on developing and maintaining our on-robot autonomy stack.

You'll work on exciting challenges involving perception, multimodal models, and large language models (LLMs), training and optimizing machine learning models for real-world deployment. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with our Foundation Models AI research team and directly impact how robots operate in dynamic environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning, robotics, and software engineering. You'll need experience with deep learning frameworks, 3D data processing, and modern ML architectures. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and wants to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical applications.

Responsibilities For AI Research Engineer, Applied

  • Develop and maintain software for on-robot autonomy stack leveraging AI research in perception, multimodal models, and LLMs
  • Leverage open source models and research papers to improve robot capabilities
  • Use AI to improve fleet level performance including intelligent task queuing
  • Train machine learning models for perception tasks
  • Optimize trained models for on-robot deployment
  • Work closely with Foundation Models AI research team

Requirements For AI Research Engineer, Applied

Python
Linux
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, Machine Learning, or related field
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
  • Experience working with point clouds, depth images, and 3D data
  • Understanding of multimodal models, modern ML architectures
  • Experience with perception for robotics or autonomous vehicles
  • Proficiency with Git, version control, and Linux environments
  • Skilled in Python
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have and maintain US work authorization
  • Willing to occasionally travel
