Collective Retreats, a certified B Corp in the luxury travel industry, is revolutionizing the hospitality experience by creating unique outdoor retreats. We're seeking a Chief Engineer to join our Operations team, playing a crucial role in maintaining our distinctive retreat facilities and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

The position combines technical expertise with hospitality, requiring someone who's passionate about both the outdoors and creating memorable guest experiences. As Chief Engineer, you'll be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of our retreat grounds, including tents, lodges, and various mechanical systems. This hands-on role demands someone who can think on their feet and solve problems creatively in an outdoor setting.

Our ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of maintenance experience in hospitality or outdoor adventure industries, along with practical skills in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and landscaping. You'll need to be physically capable, with the ability to lift up to 40+ lbs, and flexible with working hours as our operations require.

Responsibilities For Chief Engineer

  • Maintain retreat grounds and facilities including tents, lodges, landscaping, equipment and mechanical systems
  • Perform systematic checks and inspections of the retreat
  • Respond to guest maintenance requests and problems
  • Perform repair tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and groundskeeping
  • Support set-up and de-install teams for seasonal operations
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment
  • Assist with logistics, shipping and warehousing operations

Requirements For Chief Engineer

  • 2+ years experience in grounds/building maintenance or related field
  • 1+ years experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or landscaping
  • Fluent in English
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and 40+ lbs occasionally
  • Willing to work various shifts including long hours
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude
