Description For Co-op - Cryogenics Cryoplant Engineer - 2025

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of fusion energy development, having raised over $2 billion in capital since 2018. The company is seeking a Cryogenics Engineer Intern to join their dynamic Cryogenics team in Devens, MA. This 6-month co-op position offers a unique opportunity to work on critical cryogenic helium systems that maintain HTS magnets at superconducting temperatures.

The role involves hands-on experience in field commissioning, test planning, and startup execution for large-scale cryogenic plant systems. Working 40-50 hours per week, interns will gain valuable experience in process engineering, thermohydraulics analysis, project management, and hands-on testing. The position is open to currently enrolled college students from bachelor's to PhD levels.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, with exposure to fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and CAD software.   • Develop test plans for cryogenic hardware

Requirements For Co-op - Cryogenics Cryoplant Engineer - 2025

  • Preferred majors include Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
  • Enthusiasm to learn and collaborate in a group setting
  • Exposure to process fluid systems and process flow schematics
  • Exposure to fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Experience collecting, troubleshooting, and interpreting data measurements
  • Exposure to CAD and FEA/CFD software
  • Interest in entrepreneurship
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
