Description For CRYO Field Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of fusion energy development, backed by over $2 billion in capital since 2018. The CRYO Field Engineer role is part of the SPARC Cryoplant team, responsible for delivering a large-scale helium cryogenics plant system. This position combines hands-on technical work with system operations, requiring expertise in industrial equipment, safety protocols, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities For CRYO Field Engineer

  • Organize tools, spares, and storage space
  • Procure and fabricate tooling
  • Inspect and check outs of equipment
  • Install and inspect valves, actuators, instrumentation, insulation, and fastening hardware
  • Service, test, and maintain fluid pneumatic, lubricating oil, process gas, water, and vacuum systems
  • Perform cleaning and general maintenance activities
  • Access confined spaces to conduct inspection and installation work
  • Prepare industrial hardware for testing, commissioning, and operations
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment, machinery, instrumentation, and controls hardware
  • Support and coordinate contractors' daily activities
  • Learn the CRYO system for commissioning and operations support

Requirements For CRYO Field Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with industrial-scale process piping, pressure vessels, valves, and filtration systems
  • Experience with industrial-scale rotating machinery
  • Familiarity working around pressurized systems
  • Familiarity with precision tooling
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, CGA, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA codes and standards
