Description For Electronics Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy. We're designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants, working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future. Since 2018, we've raised over $2 billion in capital – more than any other fusion energy company in the U.S.

As an Electronics Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, sourcing, implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning of custom electronics for various I&C systems throughout the SPARC tokamak and plant. You'll translate requirements from Power, RF, and Controls Engineers into practical, reliable electronic designs and assemblies. Your role will involve:

  • Designing high-power power convertor electronics for SPARC tokamak magnets and RF heating system
  • Creating high-density signal routing electronics for in-tokamak and external plant control system applications
  • Collaborating with instrumentation and control engineers to ensure all necessary functions and interfaces are implemented
  • Overseeing implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning of custom I&C electronics
  • Managing suppliers of components and integrated subsystems
  • Producing engineering deliverables such as circuit diagrams, schematics, and PCB layouts
  • Ensuring design compliance with the Code of Record and established requirements

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, experience in custom electronic assembly design, proficiency in circuit simulation software, and the ability to integrate and troubleshoot analog and digital circuits. Additional skills like experience with EDA software, high-power supply design, and RF electronics up to 200 MHz are a plus.

Join us in our mission to revolutionize the energy industry and make a significant impact on the future of clean energy!
