Description For Mechanical Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of commercial fusion energy development. Collaborating with MIT, CFS leverages decades of research and groundbreaking high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology to create compact fusion power plants that can be built faster and more cost-effectively. Their mission is to rapidly deploy these power plants to meet global decarbonization goals.

As a Mechanical Engineer at CFS, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and implementing advanced R&D equipment and complex machinery. You'll work within a multi-disciplinary team of top scientists and engineers, owning the design and implementation of key mechanical modules and sub-systems. Your role will involve understanding system-level requirements, driving innovative design concepts, participating in design reviews, and maintaining interfaces with other engineering subsystems.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, 2-3 years of mechanical design experience, and proficiency with CAD software. Additional valuable experience includes machine design, vacuum structures, thin film/PVD, NX, and Teamcenter.

This position offers a salary range of $80,000 - $180,000 per year, plus equity and benefits. The actual salary will depend on your level, location, qualifications, and experience.
