Commonwealth Fusion Systems is pioneering the development of commercially viable fusion power plants. As a Principal R&D Instrumentation and Control Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing, testing, and delivering data acquisition and control systems for CFS magnets and SPARC components. You'll work with multidisciplinary teams, design industrial PLC equipment, implement control schemes, and develop software for various platforms. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering, hands-on lab experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement industrial PLC equipment and control systems • Develop software for data acquisition and control using LabVIEW, Ignition, and PLC programming • Create and manage system-level wiring diagrams and test stand configurations • Implement safety features, including interlocks and fault-detection • Perform data analysis focusing on integrity, quality, and reliability • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and physicists • Lead projects and mentor team members as needed
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field • 10+ years of integration and test engineering experience • Strong background in electronics hardware and test software • Proficiency in LabVIEW, Python, and PLC programming • Experience with industrial automation protocols and instrumentation • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
