Description For Real Time Controls Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is at the forefront of fusion energy development, working to revolutionize the energy industry through commercially viable fusion power plants. As a Real Time Controls Engineer, you'll join a mission-driven team that has raised over $2 billion in capital since 2018, making it the best-funded fusion energy company in the U.S.

You'll be responsible for developing and implementing real-time control algorithms for the SPARC tokamak control system, working with cutting-edge technology to control 100 million degree plasma using superconducting magnets. This role combines expertise in control theory, simulation, plasma physics, software, and hardware, making it perfect for candidates with backgrounds in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or robotics.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $180,000, along with equity and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, and flexible vacation days. Working in a hybrid environment, you'll collaborate with software engineers, physicists, and instrumentation teams to solve complex multidisciplinary challenges.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in low-latency control systems, linear systems analysis, and control-oriented modeling, along with proficiency in C/C++ and Python. You'll be part of a diverse, inclusive workplace that values integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique, contributing to the development of groundbreaking clean energy solutions.

Join a team that's building the energy industry of the future, where you'll have the opportunity to pioneer control solutions for a new era of clean fusion power. The role offers both technical challenges and the chance to make a significant impact on the future of energy production.
