Description For Senior Electrical Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of fusion energy development, backed by over $2 billion in capital since 2018. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll join a mission-critical team working on SPARC, reporting to the Director of Power Systems. This role combines complex technical leadership with hands-on engineering work in fusion power systems.

You'll lead the design and implementation of medium and low voltage electrical systems for fusion power, developing comprehensive electrical systems including distribution networks, protection systems, and utility connections. The position requires expertise in complex engineering calculations, industry standards compliance, and project management.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience, a PE license, and proven experience in large-scale power utility design. You'll work in an innovative environment with cutting-edge technology, alongside talented professionals dedicated to revolutionizing the energy sector.

Responsibilities For Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Lead complex technical design activities for Medium Voltage & Low Voltage electrical systems
  • Develop detailed electrical systems design, including MV/LV distribution and power interfaces
  • Develop electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Perform complex engineering calculations
  • Develop specifications and designs for control cabling and auxiliary electrical systems
  • Develop electrical specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Coordinate between electrical engineering team and EPC
  • Apply industry compliance and safety standards

Requirements For Senior Electrical Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License with ability to stamp drawings
  • Proven industrial design and project lead experience in large scale conventional power utility design
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Willingness to travel or work outside of standard work hours as needed
