Description For Senior Mechanical Engineer, Fueling Systems

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is at the forefront of fusion energy development, working to deliver commercially viable fusion power plants. The company is currently constructing the SPARC fusion machine while advancing the design of ARC, their first electrical power-producing fusion device. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Fueling Systems, you'll be integral to the development of electro-mechanical gas injection systems for the SPARC project. The role combines hands-on engineering with system design, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration.

The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge fusion technology with a well-funded company that has raised over $2 billion since 2018. You'll be part of a dynamic team working on complex challenges involving ultra-high vacuum systems, hydrogen gas applications, and challenging structural and magnetic loads in radiation environments. The role requires expertise in mechanical engineering, particularly in designing and validating electro-mechanical equipment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills in CAD, mechanical analysis, and system design, combined with excellent project management and communication abilities. The position offers competitive compensation ($80,000-$180,000), comprehensive benefits including equity, and the chance to contribute to groundbreaking clean energy technology. CFS values diversity and maintains an inclusive work environment, making it an excellent opportunity for those passionate about solving complex engineering challenges while contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
