Contentful is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join their modern content platform team. As a key member of the Content Platform team, you'll work on enabling customers to connect and reuse content from third-party systems within the Contentful platform. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, and Kubernetes, while solving complex engineering challenges in distributed systems and content modeling.
You'll be part of a diverse team of 800+ people from 70+ nations, contributing to a platform that serves nearly 30% of Fortune 500 companies. The position offers the opportunity to work on significant technical challenges, including REST and GraphQL APIs that handle billions of requests monthly, and integration of AI capabilities to enhance user experiences.

Responsibilities For Backend Software Engineer
- Work on Content Platform team responsible for Connecting & Reusing Content
- Enable customers to connect content from 3rd party systems
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers
- Solve complex engineering and Content Modelling problems
- Enhance REST and GraphQL API experiences
- Work on AI integration to enhance user experience
- Develop on Platform with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
Requirements For Backend Software Engineer
- Experience in designing, building, and delivering robust distributed systems, REST APIs and event-driven architectures
- Strong knowledge and commercial experience working with server-side JavaScript ecosystem (Node.js) and TypeScript
- Lead by example and be an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence and coding best practices
- Strong teamwork skills, open to diverse opinions
- Familiarity with automated deployment processes (CI/CD) and version control (Git)
- Excellent English communication skills
- Knowledge of functional programming principles, GraphQL and serverless applications a plus
