Description For Data Center Design and Performance Engineer

CoreSite is seeking a Data Center Design and Performance Engineer to join their Engineering team. This role involves designing and reviewing electrical, mechanical, and site plans for data centers. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating efficiency, reliability, and engineering design of various systems, defining testing and commissioning scopes, and providing quality assurance. They will collaborate with Sales Engineering, support the sales process, and provide engineering support to Data Center Operations. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of data center design and operations, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. This position offers a hybrid work environment with 40% on-site work and up to 40% travel. Responsibilities For Data Center Design and Performance Engineer

  • Design and review electrical, mechanical, and site plans
  • Evaluate efficiency, reliability, and engineering design of various systems
  • Define scope for testing and commissioning
  • Provide final quality assurance sign-off
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineering to design custom solutions
  • Support sales process for complex opportunities
  • Assess installed systems to optimize efficiency and reliability
  • Review and approve engineering modifications
  • Provide engineering support to Data Center Operations
  • Ensure quality control for Operations teams
  • Support commissioning activities
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation

Requirements For Data Center Design and Performance Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in data center operations preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data center operations and design
  • In-depth working knowledge of data center design, operations, and infrastructure
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other computer aided design software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel
  • Ability to operate and interpret results from test equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Ability to work 40% on-site and 60% remotely
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
