Description For Network Engineer

CoreSite, a leading provider of data center and interconnection solutions, is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team in a hybrid work environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge network infrastructure across multiple data center locations.

The position requires a skilled professional with 5 years of experience in networking, particularly with Brocade/Extreme, Nokia, and Cisco OS. As a Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the company's telecom and network infrastructure, providing both regular support during business hours and participating in an on-call rotation for 24/7 coverage.

Key responsibilities include monitoring network equipment, responding to SNMP trap alarms, managing Ethernet connectivity, and handling TDM circuits. You'll also be involved in network grooming, peering issues resolution, and equipment deployment. The role requires strong technical knowledge of switched network topologies, MPLS, VPLS, and experience with SONET and DWDM technologies.

Responsibilities For Network Engineer

  • Provide 8x5 support of Telecom and Network infrastructure with 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Continuous monitoring of network equipment via NMS
  • Respond to SNMP trap alarm notifications
  • Day to day support on network related issues
  • 2nd level technical support on Ethernet connectivity
  • 2nd level technical support on TDM circuits
  • Support network grooming for reliability and scalability
  • Provide support on customer related questions
  • Day-to-day technical support on peering issues
  • Assist in deploying and configuring network equipment
  • Implement maintenance windows
  • Maintain inventory database

Requirements For Network Engineer

  • Minimum 5 years of networking experience with Brocade/Extreme, Nokia and Cisco OS
  • Good knowledge of switched network topologies, MPLS, VPLS
  • Good knowledge of network tools
  • Good understanding of OSI Reference Model
  • Experience working with SONET network elements
  • Experience working with DWDM
  • Experience working in data center environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma, trade school degree preferred
  • Able to work outside normal business hours
  • Able to travel to other CoreSite data centers
