CoreWeave is seeking a highly skilled Systems Performance Engineer to join their Kernel HAVOCK Team. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing bare-metal systems from POST through joining a Kubernetes cluster. The team maintains a custom Linux kernel, various OS images, virtualization stack, and container/pod runtime stack. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in Systems Performance Engineering, deep knowledge of Linux internals, and strong programming skills, particularly in Python. They will be responsible for developing performance baselines, automation tools, and telemetry for distributed clusters. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to communicate effectively in a remote environment. CoreWeave offers a competitive salary range of $165,000-$185,000, along with comprehensive benefits including medical insurance, 401(k) matching, and flexible PTO. The position is hybrid, with expectations to work from an office at least three times a week for those within a 30-mile radius of their NJ, NY, or Philadelphia offices. Responsibilities For Systems Engineer, Performance
- Develop and maintain tools for establishing systems performance baselines
- Develop and maintain performance regression analysis testing automation
- Development of telemetry for performance analysis across distributed clusters of servers
- Triage and fix performance issues in Linux
- Collect data, produce metrics and visualizations that communicate performance information compared to benchmarks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define Linux and OS requirements, specifications, and system architecture in relation to systems performance
Requirements For Systems Engineer, Performance
- 5+ years of professional experience in Systems Performance Engineering
- Extensive, deep experience in Linux internals
- Fluency with a programming language geared toward automation (Python preferred, but others possible)
- Experience writing robust, testable code
- Experience diagnosing and fixing systems performance issues
- Experiencing with implementing automation testing
- Ability to effectively prioritize and communicate proposed features and fixes in a remote-employee environment
- Strong passion for automation, with a commitment to automating processes comprehensively
- Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
