Senior Driving Behaviors Systems Engineer II

Cruise is seeking a Senior Driving Behaviors Systems Engineer II to join their Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineering team. This role acts as a technical liaison between Product, Program, Legal, Engineering, and Test departments. The ideal candidate will define requirements, metrics, and simulation testing to validate safe, legal, and comfortable Autonomous Vehicle operations. They will perform analysis of AV driving behaviors, apply risk management tools, and lead data analyses to improve system function and performance. The role requires a strong background in systems engineering, data analysis, and programming skills.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining requirements and simulation testing for AV operations
• Analyzing AV driving behaviors to characterize performance and validate requirements
• Applying risk management tools to drive decision making
• Facilitating data-driven design, validation, and prioritization decisions
• Developing methods to analyze software changes impact on systems engineering requirements

Requirements:

• BS, MS, or PhD in relevant field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science)
• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, or related fields
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and C++
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Expertise in data-based engineering problem-solving practices
• Proficiency in statistics and probability
• Ability to understand complex technical systems and adapt to ambiguity
