The ML Data Shop team is part of the data centric AI/ML infrastructure vital for Cruise's success. We build a highly reliable, scalable, and cost effective platform to search for impactful on-road scenarios, label the data, prepare the resulting dataset for model training, and close the model performance feedback loop.
We are looking for an engineer to join a high performing team delivering a data search and mining platform to surface vital data for Cruise's ML data needs.
What you'll be doing:
- From a research perspective, exploring, prototyping, validating, and iterating new algorithms / models
- On the development side, driving efforts to optimize, evaluate and refine on-road performance for models on the path to production
- Considered one of the technical leaders of the department who guides current and future technology choices
- Have a deep understanding of the business and operational impact for different technology tradeoffs, and able to balance effectively based on company's needs
- Enable other engineers on the team to be more effective through design and code that is easy to extend and contribute to
- Capable of influencing others and building consensus even over contentious technical debates
What you must have:
- BS, MS, or higher degree, in CS/CE/EE, or equivalent industry experience
- Extensive experience with machine learning and classification
- Extensive experience with data processing and management
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
- Excellent mathematical reasoning skills, especially with probability
- Active team player in complex environments
- Experience with autonomous driving or robotic technologies
- Passionate about self-driving car technology and its impact on the world!
Bonus points:
- PhD in Machine Learning or Computer Science
- Experience with ROS, OpenCV, Gazebo, or PCL
- Experience with CUDA
- Experience with Vector Search Engine
- Track record in deploying prediction models into real world environments
The salary range for this position is $161,200 - $237,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
