Cruise is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer II for their Simulation team, responsible for constructing virtual environments to ensure safety, comfort, and efficiency of autonomous vehicles. The role involves developing automated simulation test pipelines, user-efficiency tools, and engineering solutions for complex simulation testing problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building automated tools and pipelines for simulation test creation, maintenance, and execution
- Developing test productivity and debugging scripts
- Designing and implementing engineering solutions for complex simulation testing problems
- Collaborating across teams to improve development speed
Requirements:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years relevant industry experience
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Passion for building tools, frameworks, and libraries that simplify complex workflows
- Proven track record of effective collaboration and continuous delivery of quality results
Bonus skills:
- Experience with C++
- Experience with SQL programming
- Experience with BigQuery, GCP
- Experience with verification and validation of complex/safety-critical systems in robotics or autonomous driving

Responsibilities For Sr. Software Engineer II, Simulation
- Build automated tools and pipelines for simulation test creation, maintenance and execution to accelerate training of ML models and end-to-end performance evaluation
- Develop and integrate test productivity and debugging scripts to enable efficient customer workflows
- Design and implement engineering solutions to tackle complex simulation testing problems, focused towards performance and scale
- Collaborate across teams, with AV Engineers, Product Managers, Systems Engineers, Simulation and Product Operations to improve the development speed of Cruise engineers
