Description For Network Operations Engineer

Crusoe Energy is seeking an ambitious, experienced Network Operations Engineer to join their Network Engineering team. This role is responsible for operating and optimizing Crusoe Energy Cloud's global network, including edge, backbone, data center, and public cloud connectivity. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in building and operating at scale in a production environment, with in-depth knowledge of network protocols, monitoring tools, and data center network architecture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating and optimizing the global Crusoe Cloud Network
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation
  • Working with external vendors and ISPs
  • Participating in 24/7 on-call support

The role requires expertise in:

  • Network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, EVPN, VXLAN, QoS, MPLS)
  • Network monitoring tools (SNMP, IPFIX, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry)
  • Data center network architecture
  • Experience with major network devices (Mellanox, Cisco, Arista, Juniper)
  • Public cloud architecture connectivity
  • IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 coexistence technologies

Additional skills that are beneficial include programming/scripting in Python, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and familiarity with RDMA, Infiniband, and RoCE.

Responsibilities For Network Operations Engineer

  • Operate, and optimize Crusoe Energy Cloud's global network, including edge, backbone, data center, and public cloud connectivity
  • Work with Network Engineering and cross-functional teams to drive innovation and evolution of the Crusoe Energy Cloud network
  • Work with external vendors and ISPs to test and verify device and carrier selection
  • Participate in 24/7 Oncall Support for the Crusoe Network

Requirements For Network Operations Engineer

Python
  • 7+ years of related experience building and operating at scale in a production environment
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, QoS, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, EVPN, VXLAN, QoS and MPLS-related technologies
  • Good understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools
  • Familiar with data center network architecture
  • Hands-on experience with major network devices like Mellanox, Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and other mainstream vendors
  • Familiar with mainstream commercial switch/router chipsets
  • In-depth knowledge of public cloud architecture connectivity options
  • Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 coexistence technologies
  • Self-motivated, with good communication and writing skills
  • Team player and participate in Crusoe Energy Cloud network global on-call rotation
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
