Description For Software Engineering Intern

Dagster Labs is an early-stage, well-funded startup revolutionizing the data platform landscape through open-source software with global adoption. We're seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team and contribute to the Dagster platform. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on meaningful projects that directly impact users and customers worldwide.

Our technology stack includes Python and TypeScript, with GraphQL, Apollo, and React for frontend development. We integrate with various databases, data warehouses, orchestration engines, and cloud services. The position requires working from either San Francisco or New York office at least twice weekly for the first 6 months, ensuring effective mentorship and team collaboration.

As an intern, you'll be responsible for developing deep product knowledge, writing high-quality code, and working independently while maintaining high standards. We value clear communication, creativity, and user-centric thinking. Our open-source work is done publicly on GitHub, providing transparency in our collaboration and problem-solving approaches.

The ideal candidate should have completed or be completing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, possess previous internship experience, and be proficient in industry-standard programming languages. We offer competitive compensation ($150,000-$160,000), equity, and flexible work arrangements.

Responsibilities For Software Engineering Intern

  • Develop a deep understanding of our product areas, codebase, and/or underlying systems
  • Work independently to tackle challenges and complete tasks efficiently
  • Learn and apply Dagster Labs' development standards
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code using modern abstractions
  • Collaborate with team members and take action on feedback
  • Work from SF/NYC office at least twice a week for first 6 months
