Description For IT Infrastructure Engineer

Danaos Shipping, a world-leading containership management services provider, is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Piraeus, Greece. The company manages one of the largest independently owned fleets of modern, large-size containerships and has been recognized for operational performance, technological innovation, and commitment to sustainability.

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, focusing on server environments and networking. Your role will involve installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT systems, managing VMware environments, and ensuring the stability of Windows-based systems. You'll work with both on-premises infrastructure and shipboard systems, making this a unique opportunity to apply IT expertise in the maritime industry.

The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience and a strong background in VMware environments, Windows administration, and networking principles. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Experience in maritime IT systems is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities For IT Infrastructure Engineer

  • Install, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure systems, focusing on server environments and networking
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for on-premises IT infrastructure and shipboard systems
  • Manage and optimize virtualization environments (VMware)
  • Ensure the stability and security of Windows-based operating systems and network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver seamless IT support
  • Perform routine system audits, backups, and updates to ensure high availability and reliability of systems

Requirements For IT Infrastructure Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with VMware environments and virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems administration
  • Solid understanding of networking principles
  • Experience in maritime IT systems is a plus
