Description For Senior Systems Engineer

Datacom, a leading IT professional services provider in Australia and New Zealand, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their Technical Services team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a collaborative team supporting clients across Australia.

The position focuses on maintaining storage, backup, and associated systems infrastructure, with flexibility to be based in any of Datacom's AU offices (Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, or Perth). The ideal candidate will be passionate about continuous improvement and eager to tackle new technologies.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing backup systems, implementing best practices, and providing technical leadership. The role requires expertise in various backup solutions including Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, and Azure. Knowledge of Cloud, Storage, Tape Libraries, and database systems is also valuable.

Responsibilities For Senior Systems Engineer

  • Provide operational support for backup systems and associated systems
  • Proactively manage backup systems with respect to capacity, performance and availability
  • Implement changes following best practices for storage systems and backup systems
  • Document procedures, solutions and recommendations
  • Mentor and assist team members on continual improvement and best practices
  • Participate in after hours and weekend work as required

Requirements For Senior Systems Engineer

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Able to achieve Baseline Security clearance
  • High level of technical knowledge across backup software (Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, Azure)
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of Cloud, Storage and Tape Libraries
  • Knowledge of SQL, Oracle and Virtualization
  • Ability to document and present roadmaps, solutions, and best practices
