Senior Payments Backend Engineer (Node.js/Typescript)

Deel is seeking a Senior Payments Backend Engineer to join their global team. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining robust payment systems for Deel's platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payment systems, Node.js, and database management. They will be responsible for designing and implementing secure payment processing systems, integrating banking APIs and payment gateways, and ensuring scalable and compliant financial transactions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in all stages of the software development lifecycle, and continuously improving Deel's industry-leading products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing payments processing systems
• Leading the integration of banking APIs and payment gateways
• Collaborating with product and business teams to streamline revenue cycles
• Ensuring payment systems are scalable and highly available
• Building and maintaining APIs for smooth interactions with financial institutions

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer, with 3+ years focused on payment systems
• Expert knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript
• Strong experience with databases, particularly PostgreSQL and ORM libraries
• Familiarity with AWS services (S3, EKS, SNS, SQS)
• Experience in implementing secure and compliant payment solutions
• Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach
