DEPT® is seeking a Senior Backend Shopify Developer to join their team in Germany. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, focusing on developing and maintaining Shopify and Shopify Plus e-commerce websites using a headless approach. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Node.JS, Next.js, and Shopify development, bringing 5+ years of technical expertise and 3+ years specifically in Shopify development.
The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients while leading commerce projects and implementing sophisticated e-commerce solutions. You'll be responsible for owning the backend development side of projects, implementing data integrations, and guiding other developers through code reviews and technical challenges.

Responsibilities For Backend Shopify Developer
- Build e-commerce solutions in Shopify and Shopify Plus
- Own backend development and develop technical solutions using Shopify
- Contribute to development using Next.JS / Node.JS
- Implement data integrations into Shopify (ERP, PIM, etc.)
- Guide other developers and maintain quality through code reviews
- Consult clients and PMs on technical questions
- Perform testing and ensure functionality
- Monitor and manage website uptime and performance
- Support new business sales and pitches
- Develop testing plans and troubleshoot e-commerce issues
- Design and test pages across different browsers/devices
Requirements For Backend Shopify Developer
- 5+ years of experience with Node.JS / Next and good knowledge of React
- 3+ years experience in Shopify Development, including Shopify Plus
- Experience as project lead and all steps of software development lifecycle
- Experience guiding other developers
- Strong understanding of Shopify 2.0 and Storefront API
- Experience with Shopify's object/properties, API, and Meta fields
- Thorough testing and debugging skills
- Experience with responsive layouts
- Professional working proficiency in German and English language
