As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Destinus, you'll join our R&D engineering team with a focus on aerospace. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience, strong applied engineering skills, and an aptitude for leading small engineering teams and projects. You'll be the focal point for leading mechanical design projects in areas such as Airframe, Propulsion, Landing gear, and flight controls through the entire design life cycle.
Your responsibilities will include leading design projects from conception to testing, generating 3D CAD models and related documentation, delivering technical documentation, participating in design reviews, managing suppliers and manufacturers, selecting standard parts and equipment, and contributing to configuration management.
We're looking for candidates with a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, extensive experience in the aerospace industry, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, CAD/PLM systems, and engineering fundamentals. Knowledge of Siemens tools, experience with metallic and composite structures, and familiarity with hydraulics and fuel systems are all valuable assets.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer
- Lead design projects for aerospace components and systems from conceptual phase through manufacturing to integration and testing
- Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other related documentation
- Deliver technical documentation including engineering calculations, analysis and assumptions
- Prepare and participate in design reviews
- Manage suppliers and manufacturers
- Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment and consumables
- Contribute to the DMU and configuration management
Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer
- Bsc., MSc. in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or technician qualifications with substantial experience)
- +5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace industry
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Excellent CAD and PLM knowledge
- Good engineering material properties knowledge
- Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical skills
- Seal and fastener design knowledge
- Auxiliary component selection knowledge
- ISO GD&T knowledge
- Fluent in English (Spanish beneficial)
- Proficiency in Siemens tool suite (NX, TeamCenter PLM) is a plus
- Experience with Metallic and composite structures design is beneficial
- Experience with hydraulics, fuel systems and component design is good to have
