Detroit Labs, established in 2011, is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team working on connected vehicle services. This role is part of an exciting project developing automotive technology that enables connected vehicle features across the USA and Canada. The position involves working with backend, frontend, and middleware applications that integrate with vehicle connectivity units, enabling features like remote start, parking location services, and Alexa voice commands.

The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of software quality engineering experience, with deep expertise in automated testing practices. You'll be working with a diverse tech stack including Java, Selenium, Kubernetes, and various testing frameworks. The role offers a blend of technical challenges in automotive technology and quality assurance, making it perfect for someone passionate about both testing and automotive innovation.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer (Hybrid)

  • Develop use cases, requirements, test plans, test cases, and application success criteria
  • Develop test code for UIs using Java and Selenium
  • Develop test code for APIs using Java, Maven, and Kubernetes
  • Execute and report on test cases
  • Full ownership of end-to-end and software component quality testing architecture
  • Achieving quality metrics for system and software components
  • Championing the development of comprehensive functional, automation, and performance test strategy
  • Maintain existing automated systems
  • Proactively seek out problematic tests and stabilize them
  • Propose design improvements and advocate for end users
  • Work a hybrid schedule, minimum three days per week in Auburn Hills office

Requirements For Automation Engineer (Hybrid)

  • 7+ years of software quality engineering experience working with enterprise level applications
  • 5+ years experience working with Automated QA practices
  • Experience writing test code for both UI and APIs
  • Extensive experience in API integration test automation using Java, Junit/TestNg, Cucumber
  • Experience in UI automation using Selenium, Maven, Java and Cucumber
  • Hands-on experience developing automated test code
  • Experience in debugging and troubleshooting issues in Linux environments
  • Experience with large-scale cloud solutions, especially AWS
  • Experience in CI/CD pipeline job coding using groovy scripts
  • Effective communication skills
  • Must be able to work in the office a minimum of 3 days a week
