Description For Senior Unix Administrator / Systems Engineer

Dev Technology Group is seeking a Senior Unix Engineer/Administrator to join our team and work on mission-critical systems for our government customer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, create and maintain solutions that meet client needs, and work on a variety of systems with plenty of growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Solaris and Unix file systems, user accounts, and applications
  • Implement and adhere to best practices for change management, incident management, problem management, and security
  • Operate and maintain NetBackup systems
  • Apply patch updates to remediate vulnerabilities on Solaris and Unix systems
  • Provide oversight for other operating system, firmware, and hardware personnel supporting the system
  • Work with security teams for ATO (Authority to Operate) and provide relevant documentation
  • Implement advanced maintenance techniques and failover plans
  • Utilize load balancing techniques in complex operational systems

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience in Unix administration and systems engineering
  • Strong knowledge of data center operations best practices
  • Experience with Solaris LDOM cluster and Unix systems
  • Proficiency in VMware, Unix Infrastructure, and Solaris
  • Expertise in Unix Server Support, design, troubleshooting, and storage implementation
  • Experience with OS clustering, partitioning, and virtualization
  • Knowledge of combined management, development, and maintenance of systems including network hardware, server farms, Hitachi SANs, and tape drives
  • Ability to manage system certificates for security compliance
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders

Additional Requirements:

  • US Citizenship (required for government contract work)
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
  • Willingness to attend in-person orientation at the Reston, VA headquarters
