Description For Manufacturing/Process Engineer

DISHER is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to join their team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role can be either a 3-year contract or a full-time position. The engineer will focus on eliminating waste in production processes and implementing new processes. As a contractor, you'll work in a Kalamazoo plant, while full-time team members may work on various projects around west Michigan after the initial Kalamazoo assignment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting new product and process introductions
  • Ensuring process and product quality
  • Selecting components and equipment based on specifications and requirements
  • Leading capital acquisition activities
  • Conducting process reviews and analyses
  • Generating documentation such as PFMEA, Control Plans, and SOPs
  • Performing capability studies and process validations
  • Providing hands-on leadership in implementing new processes
  • Training manufacturing team members
  • Ensuring adherence to GMP and safety procedures

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 4+ years of applicable work experience
  • Specialization or experience in plastics or polymers
  • Experience with medical devices (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
  • CAD experience
  • Right to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship

Responsibilities For Manufacturing/Process Engineer

  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions
  • Ensure quality of process and product
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements
  • Lead/support capital acquisition activity
  • Work with quality engineers to develop component specific testing and inspection protocols
  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data and conduct experimental test and result analysis
  • Lead process review meetings
  • Lead PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation
  • Complete capability studies for in process inspection
  • Conduct process validation and MSA studies
  • Work hands-on at the manufacturing site to lead implementation of new processes
  • Provide training for manufacturing team members
  • Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures
  • Review and approval of validation documentation

Requirements For Manufacturing/Process Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 4+ years of applicable work experience
  • Specialization or work experience in plastics or polymers
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement concurrent tasks
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • CAD experience
  • Hold a current and continuing right to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship
