Description For Assistant Technical Designer

The Assistant Technical Designer position at Disney Global Product Dev & Creative is an exciting opportunity in the Softlines apparel department. Reporting to the Tech Designer or Sr. Tech Designer, this role focuses on managing apparel categories and developing production tech packs for global styles. The position combines technical expertise in garment construction with creative problem-solving skills.

The role involves working with cross-functional teams to maintain brand consistency, analyze patterns, and ensure quality production. You'll be responsible for facilitating fit sessions, managing technical specifications, and partnering with overseas agents and factories. The position requires strong attention to detail, understanding of garment construction, and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities For Assistant Technical Designer

  • Support the overall Technical Design Department processes and procedures
  • Analyze garment construction and adjust as needed based upon factory, fabric, and cost factors
  • Draft and revise patterns to approvable stage
  • Maintain Brand consistency in fit/make/quality
  • Facilitate fit sessions with cross-functional teams
  • Partner with internal and external teams
  • Manage and meet deadlines daily, weekly, seasonally
  • Write and communicate effective fit comments/corrections

Requirements For Assistant Technical Designer

  • 2-5 years experience in softlines technical design
  • Knowledge of patternmaking, draping, fit correction and grading
  • Understanding of garment assembly/construction
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, Illustrator, clothing pattern software, 3D fitting software
  • 2-4 year specialized degree in fashion/apparel design or related field
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs
